I Love It When A Plan Comes Together...

I really do. For the last two months I’ve been planning, scheming, meeting, and hustling to ensure a professional, classy and magical benefit and when the doors opened at 6 P.M., everything fell into place. The food was ready, the music was playing, the bar was open, the conversation was popping and everyone was ready to see the performance to which they were invited and on which many people had put a part of their soul.

I’m amazed at how much fear I didn’t have for this culminating event versus how much I did have back in December when organizing the open house for the Community Center. Obviously much of that fact can be attributed to the experience factor: I felt much more prepared and able when facing some of the same obstacles this time around. And while opening the Community Center gave me the experience of navigating a large project from start to finish, this time I had the added bonus of bonus of learning how to see and utilize the strengths of individuals and simultaneously keep the various groups informed, working together and moving forward.

I think back to having my hands analyzed last fall and how one of the key lessons was needing to put myself into situations where I am a novice, a rookie; situations where I don’t already have the answers. That is part of the key to helping me find my greatest fulfillment and it is amazing how fulfilled I feel having pulled off this benefit. I had more answers this time around but not all of them. The biggest answer I had: I always have the answers and abilities inside me. I just need to be brave enough to put myself into situations which will help bring them out and that can’t happen when I’m swimming around the same ‘ol fishbowl.
